In 2017, with 40 years in elder care as a social worker in every environment where you find older adults, Joan Harris founded Symphony Care Management, LLC, a full-service Care Management and Life Planning Company. She wanted to serve her clients and their families by providing the highest quality of care following her association’s strict code of ethics and professional standards. She developed Aging GPS: Goals, Priorities, Strategies knowing that if she engages with older adults sooner, providing education of options, and an understanding of the preventative steps they can take for their future, they may avoid many of the problems that happen when aging without a vision of the future and a roadmap to get there.

Joan’s “superpower” is being able to sit with clients, understand who they are, and what they will need based on all the data points: assessing their age, financial profile, medical, cognitive, social and cultural constructs. Joan’s experience ensures that the roadmap that is tailored to client’s needs becomes clear. The additional and equally important skill in making Aging GPS a valuable plan to walk away with is Joan’s ability to provide education about the “why” behind the recommendations. It is amazing to see the bubbles of assumption burst and the lightbulb of understanding go on, leading to empowerment for our clients to then start their journey to the needed transitions for their older ages.
